Hi,

I want to keep my database as small and compact as possible so if I can utilise my webspace instead that would be my preference.

Could some please give me some pointer as to what default settings to change. I'm thinking along the lines of not being able to upload anything that is, by default stored in the database.

I'd still like people to have avatars, but that's about it.

If I can keep it to text as much as possible, that's what I'd like to do.

Thanks in advance.

To conserve your database, switch all file uploads including avatars and attachments to using the file system instead of database

It looks like the Avatars are stored to a folder by default and I've changed the attachments to folder storage.

I can't seem to find an upload setting, could you point me to the area I need to additionally change?

Thanks,

Mark

What upload setting do you mean?

Steve,

I don't know. I'm simply going on what I've been advised above.

I want to store what I can to the file system, items that have a big impact on the database.

You set that here:

Admin CP -> Attachments -> Attachment Storage Type

Yep, did that, I guess that's done then.
