I am currently using Simple Machines Forum bridged with Joomla. I am really hating SMF, I am getting a lot of promises every time I report problems, but nothing is happening, and everything I've seen in version 2 looks crap ie. lots of problems not addressed...

So I want to move to VB, however I want to know a few things so I don't stuff this up. As I have a rather large forum now.

I was told that the convertor from SMF to VB is flawless (the one provided here), that it keeps all the information, posts, members, member-groups etc. Is this true? Has anyone had any problems?

Since my users are synced between Joomla and SMF > What will happen when I install VB and sync the users with joomla? Will it cause any problems? At the moment the users are synced by username? Joomla handles the registration etc I need the users in Joomla as the gallery and a few other things are members only.

Do I need community Builder for the integration of Joomla and SMF? I'm not a big fan of CB.

Am I able to continue to have recent posts from the forum in joomla?

I was told an awesome bridge exists for Joomla > VB. Can anyone provide extra details on this?

So in a nutshell, I want VB to work with SMF data, I want to integrate it with Joomla with little hassle (and not messing up the users that are synced between Joomla and SMF currently. I want to display recent posts in Joomla from VB, and I would like to be able to search the forums via the joomla search as well?

I hope this makes sense and people are able to answer the questions!

Many thanks!

If there is a Joomla Bridging system, check out http://www.vbulletin.org and see if one exists.
