Dedicated Server - LiquidWeb? The Planet?

I'm looking for a good, dedicated host that will provide a high level of support. I'm willing to pay more for assistance with LAMP upgrades and some basic server configuration tasks. Can any of you recommend a host that has met your expectations?

So far, I've been looking at The Planet and Liquid Web. Liquid Web seems more in line with my goals but I'd like to hear about your personal experiences. If you have any other suggestions, I'd appreciate hearing them.

My budget is $200-$250 a month and my performance needs are minimal. I'm moving from a VPS environment so whatever I get should be a big step up.

I've been using LiquidWeb for a couple of years now - started off with a VPS from them, both support and service for that was excellent, and I have had many travels between hosts prior.

Few months ago, I decided to upgrade to dedi, and I did end up staying with LiquidWeb, despite the package I got was just slightly more expensive than I had found it elsewhere.

As for my experience, I have no complaints over LW, there were a couple of issues when they initially setup my server, but that got resolved pretty quickly, and since, all being swimmingly really, granted I don't contact them often for support as I try approach each issue personally, but for those I have brought infront of them they have helped me out just fine :)

I can't comment any other hosts really, since LW is the only one I've had a dedi server on so far, but I'm more than happy with them.

Are you preferably looking for the server in US? Do you need managed server or unmanaged one?

The planet is unmanaged, as far us I understand. LW is managed and their support is simply too good. if you are in doubt, select LW.

I have been hearing good things about LiquidWeb. I can't give you an opinion because I haven't bought any service from them.

I chose LiquidWeb about two weeks ago. The transition was very, very easy. There was an obscure problem with php shortly after my installation and a tech spent about 5 hours trying to fix it. I couldn't be happier with the process. If anyone else is looking for a host with excellent customer service, definitely consider them!
