index page help please

Reinstalled VB 3.68, everything went fine, new db, fresh copy, I no longer want to use vbadvanced as portal tho, however when I goto my homepage index, I see and index of all the files in my root directory, how do I fix this please so that it goes right to the forum index? Any help would be appreciated.

Options -Indexes -MultiViews
DirectoryIndex /path/to/index.php


place that in your webroot .htaccess and after that restart the server (if you can yourself) this requirers root access if you can't you will need to contact your host
