I am in desperate need of help with my vbulletin templates. 'Forum Templates' designed a custom template for me a while ago, but support is pathetically slow and I have been waiting months for some fixes.

I need some help to fix up my forums - any suggestions of someone good please? Sick of the poor service or those who have no idea what they are doing. Thanks.

I'd offer my help, but I'm swamped with work right now. All I'll say is be very very careful who you hire. Ask for references, chase the references up and find out exactly what work they did. Look for someone who has been doing modifications to vB styles for years, not a year etc.

I'd highly recommend Alex (DirectPixel). I'm not sure if he's willing to take on a project or not these days, but he does some VERY nice work.

Thanks for your help. The main problem is not a huge job at all, I just need my navbar/header tidied up.... so if you would be able to help a desperate person I would appreciate it... it's not much but so important. I've stuffed it up trying to fix it on my own. :(

You can post your HTML issuses, and any one would help you here.

Okay here goes... see the attached file, this is what I was hoping to do, but clearly if you look at my forums, it's not quite looking like that, I had to guess how to do it and basically removed lots of images that Forum Templates used to do my templates, which included a second navbar above the image attached :confused: I have no idea why they did that but it was very frustrating. I actually followed some instructions here (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=104920) but then realised it wasn't what I wanted. Now my default template has no logo, and my custom template which the majority use has a massive space at the top of the navbar. I have made such a mess of it :(

Also I have posted part of my problem here (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=243570) but I can't seem to make sense of it all, I think the issue has been confused...

When you're in your navbar template on the left there is a "Show Default". That entire line of code from breadcrumbs to nav buttons bar is what you want at the top. In your attachment it doesn't appear that you're using the header template. The logo and banner placement is within the navbar template and should be added after

<!-- / nav buttons bar -->

Obviously it would be easier to do than to show the steps but from comparing your site (as it is now) and your attachment it seems a matter of cut-n-paste to the different templates. Your attachment also doesn't show the extra navbit links but they can always be added after.

Yes it is a cut and paste, only to show my ad agency how a banner could be moved but it's not designed that way at the moment. In doing the fix above, my breadcrumbs have gone :(

If you going to do that, then you would need to create a table cell or something in the lines of what it is shown in link below. 20-20 hindsight for next time you need to make edits to hidden style first, before applling it to live board.

I would like to help, but I do remember how you reacted before... :)

Yeah I know I need to have a test first... :(

Reacted? I would have only been mucking around - I don't go nuts at people who help me!! :)

You flipped when you started to get database errors, but it had nothing to do with what I did. I was installing something, but then you did not want it after... This was a year ago and I recieved a frantic mesage from you.

You should always download your style before adding or editing, but you should still have your template you modified stored in History.. Have you tried to see if you have it.

I have a great memory - NOT!!! Gees it was a year ago LOL... much has changed since then. Yeah I probably freaked out, so I am sorry if I was freaking out about it. I am a very sleep deprived mummy running a huge parenting site single-handedly so it's tough. But I am finally getting some staff this week - YAY!

I have fixed my breadcrumbs now, its back, but I did look at the stylesheet settings you mentioned and it was set to 0px already...

Here is what is in the extra attributes window:

margin: 0px;
padding: 0px;
background-image: url(images/bellybelly2/bellybelly2_bg.gif);
background-repeat: repeat-x;

ETA: And there is no <br/> in the navbar:

</table>
</div>
<!-- breadcrumb, login, pm info -->
<table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" border="0" width="100%" align="center">
<tr>

Unless you want me to take a peak at your template(s), then send a pm. I write everything down before I make edits, so I can make sure it set back to same setting you had.

Jose, I just wanted to thank you so much for helping me fix my header problems in the forums. I love how tidy and nice looking it is now - it was a real mess before. If you could email me I would appreciate it.
