I frequent a site that runs different forum software that has obviously been heavily customized. One of the interesting features is their journal (blog) and the way they integrate it into their forum.
Basically, you can take any post that you've made, regardless of how far back you've posted and add it to your blog, directly from the post. Once you have done this a link in that post appears that says "Journal Updated" . They also allow you to post directly to the journal as well.
This seems to be a really successful idea on their site http://www.democraticunderground.com and promotes interactivity between the two. This may have already been brought up in here but I thought I would throw this out as an idea.
