We have an automated build process with build numbers, and not all builds are actually used. We would like to track builds as versions, or even better have a build number in addition to a version number. What I'm really looking for is a way that a developer can add an item and reference a specific build without having to be an admin to create a new version.
For now we're using tags since I can grant them the ability to create tags on the fly, but either the same kind of functionality to create versions on the fly or a field for a build number would be a real asset for us.
