View Full Version : Project subscription - this feature is very important

Hi,

After using Project tools for a while I realized it is missing a vital feature:
Project subscriptions

You can only subscribe to an issue, but you cannot receive a daily digest of all issues (bugs, tasks, features), for a specific project.
I think this option is a must, vital for a group of developers.

For example, I work on project A. The only thing I will never do is to check if there are any new bugs reported to project B... I'm concentrated on project A for now. In other words, if there is an emergency on project B, I will never know. However, I will check for sure the issue if I get an email with a bug resume, every day (or hour in my case).

I also noticed that the project tools daily digest cron is missing, the weekly one is present. Please, I kindly request to the developers to consider this matter as urgent and release a new version ASAP. It is very easy to create the modification.

Let me know if there is anything I could help with, to speed the process.
I plan to spend another 300$ on a vBulletin license for my work environment. All developers complained about the subscription issue, due to the fact we work on different remote locations. If this problem is not addressed, I will not be able to justify the expense, not to mention that the project tools will not be implemented.

I second this, being able to subscribe to a Project to get updates via email, or even just an Issue Category, would help me plentyful in utalising the PT more :)

Would be looking for it to work similar to Forum Subscriptions.

I agree.

Having the ability to subscribe to a project would be great.

Option to subscribe so email notification when a new feature/bug/task has been posted/closed/fixed etc.

In the least a notification showing there is some activity or new posts on project b.

Agreed. I stopped using project tools because of this. Seriously hinders its usefulness. Went back to request tracker.

We stopped using it too, it's unmanageable without much better e-mail integration, i.e. new items notification, etc. And it seems like a dead and unsupported product, there is too much on the plate for them to do what this product needs done IMHO.

I hope the keepers of this "dead and unsupported" product take heed of this and up the wow factor ever so slightly for v1.2.

This is essential. At the very least you should be able to subscribe a set of email addresses to a project when defining the project (in a similar way to what you can do when defining settings for a forum).

Come on guys, this is basic stuff in an tracker.

Absolutely essential.

We are discontinuing the use of Project because it is simply too difficult / time consuming ro open them all and see what is new.

Also, when displaying "New Posts" it should include posts to projects.

Yes, we are going to have to abandon this "forgotten" product as well. It is not something that can be managed effectively and vBulletin has put no time or effort into bringing this product into a realm where it can be used for its intended and purchased purpose.

Yep, first question (order) my boss asked me about this software - "I need an email when anything changes". I hoped the new release would address this some but looks like just bug fixes.

There is an add-on that requires file edits but better than nothing. (actually, it shows how easy this would have been to integrate into the latest Projects release :()

I installed this yesterday, and was shocked not to find this implemented. It's useless to me if the issues can not be relayed to my team. :(

I trust you will develop this soon :)

The Mod at vBulletin.org was helpful, but would like to see a more intricate system of notifications.

Overall "Project Tools" will become a very important part of maintaining my site. Thank you "Developers" :)

I was searching in all options and settings of Projects tools, because I was sure that this feature must be included. How surprised and frustrated am I whan I found that this feature is missing!
Please include it in next version!

I do hope the product subscriptions can be sent to PMs as an option.
