I went to post this earlier and I decided that a picture is worth a thousand words... Then, perhaps if I show you a way to code it, that must be worth a few books full of words, right?

Anyways, I would like to have you include something like I hacked over at vBulletin.org as a standard feature of project tools.

Please See:

http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=155535

Note, I am sure that someone with more skill then I have could use the java built into the style manager to make it easier for a site admin to pick colors. I fought with it for a few hours and determined I can't do this in time for me to leave for a business trip so I am releasing this as far as I got it.

Here is the image I uploaded over at vBulletin.org... Thanks for the consideration!

Not quite, that is about severity... I am more interested in tracking status like this. Status and Severity are two different items and affect very different code!

I think Severity could be addressed better with unique font types or font colors and I will work on that next if I get time. I also don't need or want ten levels of severity either...

I am planning to drop my severities down to five that mean more then a 1 to 10 range:

1. Very Minor
2. Minor
3. Medium
4. Significant
5. Critical

The problem with project tools is to change these requires hacking the code? These should also be configureable values IMHO where we can add as few or as many levels of severity along with the appropriate tags that fit our needs.

These severities should also point to a FAQ that a site and modify to help their users when to know which level of severity should be used in which situation.

Actually, I made the other thread with severity as a suggestion. How it's implemented is still up for grabs. It could be for severity or status, or both. Make it optional, and we can pick what works best.

How is this any different than the image I posted (http://i13.tinypic.com/5yhmsdz.gif) in the other thread? Mine is color-coded status...

Yep. It's identical. ;)
