forcing script to skip errors

I have a conversion script to vbulletin. When it is importing threads sometimes it comes to a thread whos username who initially made it no longer exists. How can i get the script to ignore those and continue?

Something like:

www.site.com/script.php?skiperrors

or something.

Is this Impex or a custom script you have written. If it's a custom script then you should ask for assistance at www.vbulletin.org (http://www.vbulletin.org).
