I read on /. that some dude got ahold of the book a couple of days before release and copied the entire thing with his phone camera. He then uploaded it as a torrent and let nature take its course.

I wonder how much it costs, its a kids book so it shouldn't be more then $15 right?

Not really.. Amazon has it for $18 (US), I believe. List price is $34.99.

I don't have the book yet. I'll probably get it sometime in the next week. Not in a big hurry and definitely wasn't going to wait in a line of 200-300 people to get it at midnight.

I don't have a physical copy, just a .pdf. I'm not really a Harry Potter fan, so I'm only interested in the epilouge and the fates of all the main characters.

That's probably the pirated version. Unless they also sell the book in pdf form.

Pre-ordered it months ago from Amazon and it came yesterday. Finished in several hours. Pretty good I though :) I've been reading the books since I was about 8, sad to see it all finally come to an end :(

It's a pirated copy, but it's the same text as found in the books, I've confirmed it.

People even pirate books? Wow how cheap and selfish has the world become?

People pirate lots of things, although in my case, I have never had any intention of buying the actual book, so it's not really a financial loss for Scholastic.

Ordered from Amazon, showed up around 12:30 PM on the 21st, finished reading around 10:00 the next morning. Truly a fantastic finale, well worth around ten years of wait.

If anyone in Canada hasn't bought the book yet, and you are planning to then get it at Safeway on the first Tuesday of the month. Why?

They are using the promotion of buy the book get 25 airmiles, and on the first Tuesday you get 10x the airmiles, so a 25$ book gets you 250 airmiles. Sweet deal!

Got it read it. It was quite good, and still amazed by how the story unfolded.

Sad that there won't be any more, though. :(

Books and movies present stories in so many different ways that they don't really compare. This can be radically different like the differences between Romeo and Juliet and Westside Story, which are still based on the same story. Or subtle where key character subplots are missing from the screen due to time constraints which happens in the Harry Potter series when translated to film.

Oh my god, was that a spoiler

You say their won't be anymore, the only reason why there would not be anymore is if Harry Potter dies in it. Unless they have said this is the last Potter film themselves.

J.K Rowling has said there will only be 7 books from the start. Its nothing new.

I'm a bit sad now that it's over :(. I mean, I've read them since I was in 5th grade, and now I graduated this past June. I finished it last night before I went to bed, and while I was trying to fall sleep I just kept thinking about the story/ending and thinking "Wow, that's the last new harry potter book I'll read."

Yes, fun and engaging story but its written for middle-school readers. The langauge isn't very difficult. I suspect my 11 year old daughter will have it finished by tomorrow. But then when I was growing up, I would check out 7-10 books from the library every week. Don't have time for that many anymore.

I could easily read 1,000 pages in a night if the content was interesting enough. I used to finish many 200+ novels in a few hours, although I've not read many interesting novels recently.

Just finished the book. Although for the first half of the story I really wanted to bash HarryŽs head in, a slight bit where I wanted to do the same to Hermione and Ron... Well heŽs Ron...

IŽll keep any other thoughts to myself :)

Glad the whole thing is over, 10 years since the first book and I know the only reason I read this one is because it just finishes it up. I know because with most of the previous books I was interested enough to keep reading them without having to force myself to continue, I had a few moments where it was the case with this book. Wether that is because this one is less then others or because I simply have taken a dislike towards books (got another 2 books that if given a year ago I would have finished ages ago :p).
