I registered with jumpworld, creat my db name, and install Lite VB for testing, in step 3 I'm getting this error message

Warning: Access denied for user: '****_forum@localhost' (Using password: YES) in db_mysql.php on line 31
Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in db_mysql.php on line 37

do you know what is the reason and how to fix it? I read somewhere that you made it work finally on your testing forum

note: The only file I changed before I upload is config.php

i am taking a stab in the dark but since your on a virtual host the mysql database server name could be different....?

sorry for the delay, I don't check this board as often as the rest, kind of over look it
anyway, this is what it should look like


// only mysql is supported at the moment
$dbservertype="mysql";
// hostname or ip of server
$servername="localhost";
// username and password to log onto db server
$dbusername="thetakerfan_thet";
$dbpassword="******";
// name of database
$dbname="thetakerfan_vbulletin";

make sure you copy the exact name of the DB and the username, since they aren't what you enter
and also, what messed me up was something so stupid, but make sure that you added the user into the correct DB, thats what was giving me the erorr

Ok there is some progress I moved a little bit, but I got this error message

are you sure I don't need to change any other files? for example these lines in db_mysql.php file

var $server = "localhost";
var $user = "root";
var $password = "";

the only files you should edit is config.php
are you sure you added the user to the db?

Which files I have to look at to change the interface of the board? I'm looking at serious changes not only the fonts or color, which can be done by the control panel ca

Look in the templates section of the control panel, there you can change everything that you should need to :)

I don't have templates section in my control panel right now because I'm using vB Lite, but after what I saw of this quick setup I'm going to buy this script tonight

I'm looking for an extraordinary style hack Mr, werehere switch everything upside down. Is this can be done through templates section in control panel? I will take a look at your demo version on this site again just in case

you can completely change the look of vB in the templates, there is basically nothing you can't change to suit your needs
