Please close this thread if its not appropriate.
Its very obvious that vBulletin Blog is the most awaited addon so far. Many have been asking about its price. Previously, we had a thread on why we need a blog addon. Jelsoft listened and now we almost have one. How about about a thread on how much everyones willing to cash in for this product?
What would be the ideal price for vBulletin Blog?
Ofcourse, Jelsoft makes the final decision and there would be lots and lots of other factors to consider while putting up a price for the addon but I am certain if Jelsoft has an idea of what the members expect in terms of pricing they may be able to come up with a well informed decision.
Again the final decision is Jelsoft's and this thread is only to gain some information. Please be honest and do not expect it to be free.

I'm pretty sure the price point has already been determined but if it should go above $60, I think the blog should be able to run stand alone as well as in conjunction with the forum.

I picked $40 - $60. Anything over that, then I agree with Reeve.

Im not worry by the initial price, but the renovation price can be high and unreliable for some people (like the project tools).

Seeing as its a direct addon for vBulletin, I don't believe it will work that way.

I've picked from 20 to 40, though I believe it should go for about 35-40$. A typical website administrator in my country pays around 100-200$ yearly for the maintenance of the site on a good hosting offering 500MB-1GB of space, adding the support fees for vBulletin and the Blog to that sum, I think 300$ is that kind of cap an average Joe the admin would pay every year for supporting his site.

I can't really predict until we see what changes are going to be made to it and what the social networking side to it is.

Well it depends.. if there is a renewal fee, which I'm sure there will be.. then mabye $40 for the blog and then the renewal fee each year. But we will see when the time comes..
If it's too expensive, I might just buy vBlogetin instead.. since their prices have come down now.. with vB release it's blog too.

I am reserving my thought until beta is release, as what you see is basic and I hope that this addon will have some of it own 'Style Varibles' option and or color option

I believe the ideal price for the vBulletin Blog add-on would be in the $40 to $60 price range.

it's too early to tell. plenty of feedback has been given already that, if implimented, would improve the products functionality considerably. As is it's only designed as part of social networking, somehow, which isn't much of a MU blog.
Needs a master blog
Needs the ability for the admin to set site categories, as well as the user being able to define their own.
Needs the admin to have the ability to lift a user blog's visibility to reward content quality / effort, and for usage within it's own "site" content. That way great content is made obvious with better exposure, and chit chat type blogs or those such as rants, can be left only visible within the users blog area.
Needs the option for blog categories to be visible on all pages, even and especially the main blog intro page. The would be key for navigation to topical articles.Do this and I no longer need a seperate knowledge base which shifts focus and justifiable funding towards vB for "static" or at least "site" content articles.

All I can say is the vB Blog is a long ways yet.. it's got some good progres.. but nothing like vblogetin... I'm sure when it's in a good stable state, the team here will have something impressive. :D

Although I value this addon higher, to me $50 is affordable and the ideal price.

I guess it will be 75$ .
When i compare the features with other blog systems , vB Blog is more feature rich from them and it will have the social networking.

It depends how good it is when it is released, but I think a lot of you are putting the number a bit high -- how much big vB fans on this board are willing to pay is probably not quite the same as how much the general population is. I would say $30, but it also depends on whether or not there would be a renewal. Project tools was priced way too high, I think, so I hope the same won't happen for the blog.

When I see addons priced at $25+, you will not see most members here purchasing it. It is a addon and not a stand-alone script that you can run, I would of priced it at $5 to $10 and have support / upgrade renewal $20 every half year. I also would of made the support forum only accessible to paided members to ask question for support, but still let other member(s) to view and post and not recieve support for question asked. I know vBulletin has a way to tell if you have a certain scripted installed or if you have paid for support for the script you are inquiring about... well I assume that they can see when a user post, but then I do not need to know how they can tell who does and does not.
