View Full Version : Automatically subscribe assigned users

I would like the ability to automatically subscibe users to a issue when you add them as 'assigned', perhaps receiving an initial e-mail saying they have been assigned to the following issue and reminding them to check the issue out so they receive further e-mails as comments are added.

Yes, this is currently not an option, but I've been begging for it a few times. Hopefully this becomes an option that upon assigning someone they get a PM or email notification there's something they should look into.

Yes, seems strange that you have to check the site and probably create a report just to see exactly what you have been assigned!

I further more would like to be instantly informed for special issuetypes - maybe tags. It's great to be able to get emails for new issues.

It should not only subscribe them but they should get an e-mail notification "You've been assigned..."

Honestly PT's doesn't make sense without an option like that as I don't have the time to check the PT's few times a day for new responses and issues.

Same here. Badly need notifications without subscribing to each and every issue.

I searched out this suggestion as I feal this is a must have...
I also don't like that the only option is e-mail as I get way too much junk mail! I wish the system would have mechanisms to get notifications via PM as a choice instead of e-mails.
I also wish the "subscribe" option was set to a default YES (via PM) so that when users post they have a problem that they know we reply.
I can hack these if I need to but they really should be standard features IMHO!

Do not like getting mails, either. I just want the option to subscribe issues for assigned users. And the option to let users to opt-in for subscribing any new issues.

notification by pm and a schedule in calendar with a reminder or something like that... to have tasks and deadlines would be great!

Agreed!
E-mail is overkill most times, but various notifications within the system would be great.

I'd not like a pm or email. Just auto-subscribe. Everything else can be done with subscriptions and are build in.

I'd really like to email my staff once a week with an update of new tickets assigned to them. They can then use the internal subscription system to stay up to date.
But right now my staff is sometimes not doing anything because they don't take the time to check if there's a ticket assigned to them.

exactly, but I think that vbulletin should integrate this warning rather than sending an email, just because my staff members and myself usually visit the forum but do not necessarily check the mail or see if they have assigned tasks on projects.
To just have a warning box like you have when there's a new pm, you could have one for tasks, and just as you have on top right corner the number of unread pm's, an information with assigned tasks with a link to somewhere on my cpanel where I could see all my assigned tasks (like subscribed threads for instance)

agreed. Started going back to request tracker because of this. This system just doesn't have the features to be a viable option. It almost seems like this was developed as an afterthought.

It could very well have been an afterthought, although I fully expect some changes to this in the next relase and will be outright pouting if it isn't included. I won't call this a new feature, but more of an augmentation of the existing features so the usual excuses for not including something doesn't apply.

Is there any timeline for adding this functionality? Right now I am IM'ing my people whenever I assign them a task...kinda defeats the purpose.

To get vB support on these forums you first need to be a licensed customer and register for Priority Forum Support. To do this, please go here:
http://members.vbulletin.com/membersupport_priority.php (http://members.vbulletin.com/membersupport_priority.php)
...and enter your email address in one of the boxes. You'll need to have your customer number and password to access the page.
Once you've done this, please post in the appropriate support forum for your version.

You are showing up unlicensed still, please make sure you enter the email address you registered on this forum with in the form. Yes, you indicate you run a vb forum, so to let the staff know you're running it with a license, you have to set yourself up for priority support so you show licensed. Sorry for the inconvenience.

And you are showing up just fine now, yay. Thanks for going through the trouble :)

I really hope it gets added soon, but I have no news on a timeline at this point. I can imagine the PT getting an update once 3.7 goes gold. I already read somewhere that's also the time for ImpEx to get an update, maybe PT/Blog will follow then and include new functionality
