Hi,

I don't have my own server, but I would like to know what is the minimum server requirement that I have to look while I'm searching for a Web Hosting?

I heard stuff like VB use more RAM resources than UBB, more CPU .. etc? I appreciate any valuable information about these issues.. Thanks

It all depends on the setup and forum. It is not necessarily true that it needs anything more than the UBB, but a huge forum running MYSQL is not going to run well on a server with 64MB of ram, that is just how it is. So it is hard to say without specific information.

Is it necessary to have a dedicated server to run VB? A friend of mine has experience with your prodect says that Dedicated server is necessary, otherewise any web hosting will cick you out because of the RAM & CPU usage

No that is not correct. There are many forums running well on virtual accounts.

In fact there are many hosts that are making people with UBB's swith to vbulletin, or discontinue their forums altogether.

I'm running my test board on a P75, 16MB server

So it's safe to say vB will run on practicly anything.

If you can run mysql, you can run vB

it does depend on the traffic, ofcourse

I'm not really a 'techie' kinda person, but want to start my own forum for fun. I've been told VB is the way to go, so that's why I'm here... what should I be looking for (i.e. space and whatnot) and expecting to pay for webhosting for something like this? (i.e. min. requirments and optimal {though cost efficient} requirements). What do most people use?
