Hello, all -
I recently installed a copy of vBulletin on a new website I was commissioned to build. I've installed the software on a number of occasions previously without any problems. Soon after the latest installation, however, I started to receive a string of error messages. All of the messages follow the pattern shown below...
Database error in vBulletin :
mysql_connect() [<a href='function.mysql-connect'>function.mysql-connect</a>]: Unknown MySQL Server Host 'xyz.oneandone.co.uk' (2) /homepages/xyz/d1234567/htdocs/forum/includes/class_core.php on line 273
MySQL Error :
Error Number :
Date : Wednesday, June 27th 2007 @ 10:20:16 AM
Script : http://www.mysite.com
Referrer :
IP Address : 11.222.33.44
Username :
Classname : vb_databaseAs the site administrator I receive such messages (on average) once every few days. One day last week, however, I received about 50 messages in the space of a couple of hours!
I've not much hands-on experience with SQL, but from what I can deduce the messages appear to indicate that the 1&1 server is having difficulty maintaining the service.
Is this a fair appraisal of the situation? If so what can I do about it?
In advice would be most welcome.
Thanks
Perchpole
