For the site I would like to develop, I need a way to externally link using forum redirect.

example...

x.com/index.php?=[external link].

Does such a mechinism exsist, and if not how easy would it be able to code into?

Could you give a little more detailed question? I'm not too sure what you mean.

If you're talking about re-writing the URL, then there is a non-Jelsoft endorsed package called VBSEO (or along that like) that can do this, if I'm not mistaken.

for example google redirect

I would like to do some the samething with a vbulletin forum. Is a build in mechanism for this?

There's no built in mechanism, but there are addons that allow that.
