Hi,

I want to know if its possible for me to import some how my 3.5.4 Backup to my new forum that's 3.6.7 PL1.

The thing is, I had my vBulletin as 3.5.4 I made a backup of the database, and now the forum no longer exists. Now I installed 3.6.7 PL1 from scratch, and want to know if it would be possible for me to import the 3.5.4 Backup that I have onto the new forum that's 3.6.7 PL1, so that I do not loose any posts, users, threads, etc?

If there is a way, can someone explain to me how to do it? I would appreciate any help that you all can provide me with.

------------

Something I just thought of while writing this thread, would it be possbile for me to install 3.5.4 from scratch, import the 3.5.4 Backup I have and then upgrade from 3.5.4 to 3.6.7 PL1? Please let me know ...

Okay, so far I've installed 3.5.4 from Scratch and added my Backup, all works perfectly! ... Now I should just proceed like a normal upgrade to 3.6.7 PL1 and I should be set, right?

Yes you can restore the 3.5.4 database, edit the includes/config.php file for the 3.6.7PL1 files to point the file to the correct database. Then run the upgrade script.

The upgrade instructions are in the online manual, http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/upgrade

I already got 3.5.4 Running with my Backup, so the site is back to how it use to be. Now, I want to upgrade to 3.6.7 PL1 from 3.5.4 - this is possbile, correct? (I've never done an upgrade before).

What are the steps I should take? Please keep in mind that I do not want to loose the current Style I have for my Forum nor the images, hacks, etc that are currently installed.

I would use the http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/upgrade link, but what other steps are needed so that the above does not happen (me loosing images [misc, statusicons, etc], hacks, etc that are currently installed). Please let me know ... Thanks.

Upgrading should not result in a loss of data. It is always advisible to backup your database before attempting the upgrade.

If you have code modifications you will need to reappliy these after the upgrade as the scripts do not support third party code.

If you have made changes to the templates you may need to also reapply these too if the template requires a revert after the upgrade.

I know Data (such as: threads, posts, profile fields, etc) will not be lost during an upgrade. What I fear I will loose is Template Modifications, Custom Images in my /images folder that replace original vB images, etc. So what do I do to upgrade and not loose the Template Modifications/Images I have now.

Also, I can do a 3.5.4 -> 3.6.7 PL1 Upgrade without any problems - Yes or No?

Templates are not altered by the upgrade script you would need to revert the required templates to use the new feature code.

You can move your images to another folder then move them back after the upgrade.

Yes you can upgrade straight from 3.5.4 to 3.6.7 PL1.

Forgot to post up, lol ... Upgrade went smoothly, the only down side was some of the Plugins from 3.5.4 dont work on 3.6.7 PL1, like the [HIDE] hack & Prevent Double Posting hack. I had to also do my Custom Style again from scratch as a lot of the Templates needed to get Reverted due to the change of vB Versions, etc.

I got everythig done a couple hours ago, so now my Site is updated to 3.6.7 PL1 and is looking back to normal

2. Changed to New Host and Reinstalled vB 3.5.4
3. Restored DataBase Backup of vB 3.5.4
4. Downloaded vB 3.6.7 PL1
