In other words. You come into vbulletin. There are new message in Forum1, Forum2, Forum5 and Forum11. You click on Forum1 to scan the messages you want to view. But from within the list of messages, either on the top, or on the bottom, there is a list of other forums that have new messages so you don't have to click back to forumhome.
I'm not sure if this would look good or work, but am putting the idea up here for the community to discuss, as I notice while browsing that I hate having to go back to forumhome just to find out which categories have new message.

I do, it just depends. On some forums, they have tons of new messages every day. Say out of 25 categories only 5 categories interest me. View new posts is overkill in that case. I don't want 5 pages of posts mostly in the other categories. So I drill down into the 5 that interest me. This way, I could see at a glance which new category I want..

This is what that "Subscribe to Forum" that you are complaining about in another post is handy for...
Subscribe to the forums you want to see, your 5 categories and then set your bookmark to your user control panel instead of the index page or the getnew page. Works great, I use it on a couple of different sites.

I sure hope people don't find it as a complaint or whining, it's only meant to be constructive for future releases. I LOVE vB and nitpick only for improvements sake.
