.htaccess alternative for lighthttpd?

Ive just changed from linux with cpanel to centos with lxadmin. Now I've just realised lighthttpd does not have .htaccess file. Is there an alternative? Does anyone have any suggestion. I guess I'll have to change my user friendly urls back to algebra looking ones! :o

Lighttpd supports similar rewrite rules - http://trac.lighttpd.net/trac/wiki/Docs%3AModRewrite

What were you using before for your "friendly-urls"? If you were using vbSEO, they should be able to provide you with the required modifications for your configuration files.

Thanks Wayne. It was actually for vblogetin and wordpress. I asked this at vbseo and they said their software is fully compatible with lighttpd!
