I see many forums make a big number of links in the footer. All are just small numbers links leading to the archive.
I guess it's to improve search spiders/ranking. But How does it work?

How do you implement this? Is it a hack on vB.org?

It would be easy to replicate, but I'm not sure how much value it would add. Anchor text is what's all-important if you're doing it for search engine reasons and the anchor text has just been a number all the times I've seen it.
Might have more impact as a drop-down list of all your forums as essentially just a forumjump but using the vbmenu system, search engines index menu content don't they?

You wouldn't want to use VB's forumjump for this as it would affect performance. Maybe a seperate static drop down would work... not sure / might be considered cloaking?
