Are there any?

I guess one that I know of whould be that search engines can't index your board.

Any others?

Though I'm still just messing around with vB, I haven't found anything bad to say about it, and the next version should fix any bugs you could come across (though I haven't really found any yet, other than netscape stuff, which I believe you can fix via the templates).

If you have PHP and MySQL on your server, I would recommend it (though I don't have experience with heavy trafic loads using it, just yet).

Depending on how you look at it, the use of PHP and mySQL could be considered a drawback. PHP is in use by 300K sites ( http://www.e-softinc.com/survey/data/200003/news.html#surveys ) which is far less than Perl's estimated 1,000,000 ( http://www.perl.org/press/fast_facts.html ).

mySQL also has to be installed for this forum to work.

But, the benefits of PHP and mySQL definately outweight any negatives (speed being the best benefit, imho).
