I noticed the number of bug fixes from 2.0.1 was now getting quite substantial and wondered when the planned release for 2.0.2 was ... if anyone knows of course ;)

the only reason i haven't moved from 2.0.0 is because of the long list of bugs in 2.0.1 bugs forum :)

Because you will upgrade to 2.0.1 in the process of upgrading to 2.0.2 - save yourself an extra click or 2 by upgrading now! ;)

Don't worry Eva, I'm in the same boat you are... 2.0 works fine for me and I'd rather not upgrade until some things are fixed.

Along with this though, when are we going to see some additional features? I understand the dev team needed a break after that long 2.0 release/bug fix, but how about some additional functionality? Expansion of the calendar system, revamp of permissions system, something cool. :)

I just wish I had time to hack like I did before this summer started.

A number of those things have been mentioned for inclusion in 2.1, which is likely 3 to 6 months off.

That's cool.

I mean I'm not really worried about it, the vB team has never failed me in the past. I was just wondering what was going on, it's been awhile since I've seen any announcement of new stuff in the works.

Martz

To be honest, I don't see any new features - nothing that jumps out at me anyway. However I one my e-mail accounts is down, which means I am still waiting for my activation code :(

i see a conditional image in the header. if you aren't logged in it says register. if you are logged in it says profile.

Well then you all need to look a little harder :)

BTW: I probably wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't seen the changelog.

The link that freddie gave you earlier doesn't actually include all the new 2.0.2 functionality... but you're gonna like 2.0.2, I assure you :)

Also, admin options (close thread, move thread, etc.) don't seem to be visible to people who don't need to see them anymore (everyone who is not a mod or admin). Nice!

I thought that was a feature for 2.0 already  because I am running 2.0.1 and guests or "normal" users can't see the Admin option drop down menu.

When I upgrade from my 2.0.1 to 2.0.2, will I loose my hacks then? If I do then I guess I won't upgrade.

Any changes you have made to .php files will have to be re-entered into 2.0.2, but so far we don't know whats changed - so some of your hacks may be included officialy in the realse (but "dont expect anything too major" is the general vibe from the developers).

In the members area is a small link to a program which will help you compare the files and see what you may need to include into the new php files - it shouldn't be too tricky.

However changes to templates will not be effected, so you dont have to worry about that.

And a very good one :)

Just a quick tip when installing hacks into .php files. A good habit to get into is when you're reading a set of hack installation instructions and it says:

find this: [code section]
and replace or add immediately after this: [code section]....

add a comment at the beginning of that hack code section that has a couple details like this:

// HACK: Community Bulletin Generator Added: 7/18/01

It sounds dumb, but it does help in most situations when you have taken a file like member.php and hacked the hell out of it and then you either can't keep track of what's been hacked and what hasn't, or you want to go in and rehack a new member.php file which comes during a software upgrade.

And, last but not least, *always* save yourself a future hassle and keep your vbulletin.zip file because you never know when the time will come that you made errors in your php files from hacking and you need to restore the php files from "stock". Yes, you could go back into the Members Only area and redownload, but why waste the time.

Just a suggestion.....
