I am not too familiar with Access, but isnt it very slow and outdated for something of this nature?

from everything I've read about it, yes
I've never used it though, so I don't know from experience

You really DO NOT want to run anything of substance with MS Access... Access is nice for single user databases, but can not and will not hold up to many multi-user connections. MySQL is free, and very reliable... and you can export MySQL into Access if you really need to.

OK, I got the idea, so maybe the vB will be on Visual Basic with MS SQL Server 7.0? That's a great server, even better than MySql...
Thanks...

why do you keep mentioning visual basic, this is a PHP board
I don't understand
And isn't MS SQL incredibly expensive?

Acctually, I don't know...
I got it free from microsoft as a business customer...
But it is better than MySqll - For Sure.
Most web hosting sites (for real hosting) give MS SQL Server on their service, like my provider...
Thanks...

Actually, no they don't.
Most give mSQL, MySQL, or Postgre (sp?) SQL. Most real webservers run *nix (Linux specifically) anyway.
Oh and screw SQL - just go for Oracle ;)
Anyway, yes - MS SQL is VERY expensive, but I'm not sure how much.
I don't think there'd be too much point in writing for it now, as all other SQL flavors (:D) are more widely supported.

All new commerce sites, or company sites are on NT Servers. NT is much better than *NIX servers. In all of these hosters MS SQL Server is a must and it is there alright. No new hosters don't have MS SQL installed.

I rarely see MS SQL offered, because of the fact that it is soo expensive, and not so widely used
just so you know, go here:

Look, I Know it's expensive, but big companies like myn, need big and good database. Beside the fact, Programs who connect to internet databases need MS SQL/Access, those are the only way to connect them.
It's not hard to develop a vB version that support MS SQL, so why not?
Thanks...

um, its this program an run my an internet database?
its not a matter of difficulty, its a matter of priority, and as far as I know MS SQL is not a high priority, if its even on the list that is
