View Full Version : Import from IP.Board 2.2.2 => vBulletin 3.6.6 issues

I've done a test of a clean import from IP.Board 2.2.2 => vBulletin 3.6.6. These are the current problems:

1. Inbox and Sent PM's are all mixed up. Is this a known issue?
2. All imported users have an attached user note "imported user". Why?
3. Everyones D.O.B. is set to "November 30". Why? (Maybe because I set a D.O.B. as mandatory when registering in vB?)
4. A few polls did not import. Not a big problem, I guess I could live with that.

cheers,
James

One more thing, in the attached image you will see the welcome box is missing the "Private Messages: ... ". This only appears when an imported user logs in.

Looks like the Sent PMs are in the Inbox and the Inbox PMs are in the Sent folder

Not that I know of !

Because they are imported.

What year ? DOB should be imported from IPB if it is set in the source.

Jerry, here's what's happening with our PMs. You can see there are duplicate PM's in each folder.
Inbox folder: Sent IPB messages, Some Inbox IPB messages
Sent folder: Sent IPB Messages, Inbox IPB messages

I don't quite get it

Also the following options for the imported users are set to "No" instead of "Yes" in their preferences even though they were set to Yes in the vBulletin options before the import:

- Receive Private Messages
- Send Notification Email When a Private Message is Received
- Pop up a Notification Box When a Private Message is Received
- Receive Email from Other Users

and so this is why we are having the problem with the attachment I posted above with the "Private Messages: ..." label missing. Is there any way to enable these options as a default for the imported users? I can only see a way to do this through each user profile.

Regarding the DOB, members that didn't have a DOB set in IPB are imported with no DOB when I view their settings in the admincp, but their profiles just say "November 30". Though this can be changed by the members in the profile options.

I'm mostly concerned with fixing the PM issues.

Have you set up the imported usergroup or moved the imported users into the Registered group ?

Yes I moved them to the registered user group

I've done a second test import with the latest vB PL1 and Impex. Same issues. PMs are mixed up and every users member accounts have the PM system disabled so it needs to be activated in each members options which is impractical.

I'll submit a support ticket for it tomorrow.

the problems with 'default' options being set wrongly on imported users is a platform-independant peculiarity of impex.

there are ways to mass-change user options through SQL queries, but personally I think it would be better to include a 'default importuser options' in impex so that you can preset the preferences of the users you are importing.

perhaps there are some impex scripts that can take the user options from the source database reliably, but then again which board software uses options that have exactly the same implications as in vB? (only one I can think of is a vB -> vB merge import)

Currently the default user options are set by ImpExModule, the usergroup permissions have to be reset after the import or move the users to the Registered group.

I didn't have much time to work on this over the last month and only just submitted a support ticket today.

Ok I was told that there were SQL queries in the drop down list that I used to fix the the PM settings. I'll submit a bug for the mixed up PM issue.

I've submitted a bug and I have a test install of both the IPB and vB if needed so you can compare what's being imported.
