This sounds like the files from impex haven't properly been uploaded.
Put the content of the upload folder of impex in the folder where vbulletin runs. If there are existing directories then it should merge those files in them.

In which directory do you have vBulletin installed right now? I mean, if you open your browser, and you type in the url to go to the vbulletin forum, so you can see the forum, and go post a thread and stuff like that. What's that URL?

Ive got past that problem now thank you for your help ...
But, It says that it cannot connect to the source database ...
what would the database source look like ??
would it be a www.domain.com/forum2/XXXXXXXX (http://www.domain.com/forum2/XXXXXXXX) sort of thing or just the
directory ??
thanks

The details for the source database will match the old forum's configuration details.
Like the mysql host ..if the old forum software has in their config file the database host set to localhost, use that in the impex config file for the source .
