Hi guys,

So I'm a newbie when it comes to this stuff, but I'm going to hack my way through the installation and conversion to my newly purchased vBulletin.

I wanted to ask a very dumb question to make sure I don't create re-work for myself.

I have an existing Webwiz Forum that I'll be converting to vBulletin. Can I setup a test forum as well as the new forum, so I can play around on the test forum with mods/skins/etc until I'm confident to apply them to the new forum?

Also, my current forum is at www.domain.com/forum (http://www.domain.com/forum). I want the new vbulletin forum to be at www.domain.com/forums (http://www.domain.com/forums). And then a test forum at something like www.domain.com/test_forum (http://www.domain.com/test_forum). Is that okay from a licensing standpoint or otherwise? And does that mean that I would do two installations in those two directories? Or is there an easier way to have a "development environment"?

Thanks.

Yes, you can set up a test forum. In fact we recommend doing this to try the import first.

As per the license agreement:

"If you have a valid license, you may set up an additional test forum in order to test code, template and database modifications. To make this clear to us and our license verification procedures, place it in a directory called 'testvb' and be sure to password protect it. It must not be accessible by the general public."

Awesome - thanks. I tried to find that in the license agreement. Must've been moving too fast. ;)
