{Suggestion} Filter Thread by Userid

Hi -

I had emailed this to the 'info@vbulletin.com' email address and was told that I should post it.:rolleyes: Since I have a few minutes this morning, I created an account, and am hereby posting it.;) I even did a search first and didn't see anything that looked like it already.:D

It would be nice to have the ability to apply a filter by userid to a thread. The primary reason for my suggestion is that in the vBulletin site I use most often, I would like the ability to read what the thread starter has written without having to roll down through all the responses. Somtimes the thread starter is writing a narrative in multiple parts and it is a pain to have to visually filter out all the responses to get at the heart of the thread.

Interesting idea... its something I never thought of... but its already built into VB assuming the search options are enabled.

1. Click on "search this thread" at the top of the page.
2. Click "advanced search"
3. Add in the users name and click go.

You will get a list of the posts that user made in the thread. Try it here with my username.

Thanks for the response. Had already thought about that, but not quite what I am suggesting.

What I would like to see is a way to display all of a specific user's posts in the normal thread view, as if they were the only ones there.

For instance, on advrider.com, users post "trip reports". These are text and usually photos of single, or multiple, or really long (round the country, round the world) journeys. It would be nice to read just one user's posts (usually the thread starter/author) which may be spread over months, and sometimes years, without reading all the intervening posts from well wishers, etc.

Hope that explains it a little better. Basically, instead of "Search thread by user", it would be "Filter thread by user".
