Question regarding the vbulletin files?

Ok I have a licence for my personal site. Me and two other friends pitched for a second licence they are two different accounts. Would it be ok to download the files under my account and when I install it I use the licence number that belongs to that site? The guy with the account info is currently moving and now is the time I have to update this set of forums. Both licenses are valid for upgrades etc.

You need to use the correct files for the license in question.

If you were to use your files on another site you would be breaking the License Agreement as you are not permitted to run multiple instanses of the software with only one license.

But I will be using a different licence. So I wont be running multiple boards under the same licence. I have 2 licenses. It could happen just by my having them both on my pc and getting confused each site has its own licence. So I really wont be breaking any policy. But I would like an official word.

The files are tagged with the License number.

As this is unique per license, to upload them to 2 different domains would be effectively breaking the License Agreement.

*edit to add* Official word? Boxy is a vBulletin Team member, it doesn't get much more official than that. :)

Only the person to whom the License belongs can provide you with the files.

You would also need them to provide you with their Customer Number in order to install/upgrade.

I have the customer number and I am added for support. I will just wait for my friend to get settled in in his new house. I don't see a point in adding me for support if I cant really do anything. lol

The only thing adding you for support under the license does is allow you to post in the support forums on this site and at vBulletin.org. It does not give you control over the license or customer account. That remains with the account owner only.

I have access to that anyway with my account. But thanks for the reply's. I will wait till he gets on line and get him to either give me the pass or he downloads the file on the temp 56k line. lol That should be fun.
