I'm trying to decide the best way to have truly private forums for a select few (no more than 6) of my admins and regular members to discuss company business, without any other admins being able to access the private forums. Currently this is not possible because passworded forums don't apply to admins. I could modify the code to make them have to use a password, but the password is in plain sight in Forum Manager!! So there's no real way to keep them out.
To that end, I want to install a non-public copy of vBulletin on the server, protecting it with .htaccess, and use it only for the few of us who will need a private place to go. Do I have to buy another license for that, or should I go with one of the many free solutions?
