OK, I KNOW I am trying to do too much at once.....just trying to prioritize my work...

I am trying to:

Upgrade from 3.5.4 to 3.6.5 (and associated vbadvanced)
Move from one host to another...

Initial host has php 4 and mysql 3, so upgrading first isn't an option.

I have SSH access, but when I tried a fresh install of 3.5 and moved the database, I couldn't log in because it kept redirecting me to my old URL, I couldn't access the control panel...it was ugly....

All I really care about is Users, posts and attachments (Not terribly important) My database is not huge...40MB, but I can't use phpMyAdmin easily, and I don't know what the minimum tables I need to transfer are....

1) Can you transfer just tables, and which ones do you need?

2) How do you import files so it popuates an exiting table.......ie doesn't stop because that table already exists. When I tried it before, I had to install Vbull, then delete the database, remake the database with no tables then import....there has got to be a better way.....

30 My Vbull was HEAVILY modified, so doing a straight transfer is out of the question....I am on 3 different databases, with itemstats and another mod.....

OK, breathe..... :)

Thanks for your help....I really do need it

Feel free to not sugar coat the answer....if I have to do an asston of work, I would much rather know up front.

You can empty the word, postindex tables, cpsession and session tables before backing up. Everything else is essential. Follow the instructions in our online documentation for moving servers.

OK, assuming I can do this.......what keeps it from redirecting back to the old domain? It was giving my a white paper error something or other.... Did I miss something in the process.....I followed the guide.....

Once you have moved to the new host, you will need to update your DNS settings at the domain registrar's website. Your new hosting provider can give you the information needed to do that.

OOPS, forgot to mention I am also changing domain names to ensure 100% uptime, the new domain has gone thru DNS, I will forward the old domain over as soon as the new one is up and running....I think this is why I am having white paper issues, dunno which files I have to change....I thought I got them all. Forum redirects etc.... but some I need to change in the admin panel...but I can't log into the admin control panel....

Got everything done and moved over....but I can't login.....if I try to login in forums it auto forwards me to the old site....If I try to login in admincp, it just comes back to login screen.
