Hi,

I run a forum with about 500mb of database, 120 gb of traffic per month and 350-400 users always online

Now I am on a shared server and I have many prolems, I am thinking to move to a vps server, do you think it's a good idea considering the traffic of my board?

Thanks

Yes those stats qualify to move from shared to a VPS, and if you expect a lot of growth in the near future perhaps invest in dedicated hosting, or a bigger VPS.

With 350-400 users on your site (assuming a 900 second cookie), you're actually in "dedicated server"-land.

I'd be willing to bet that your current shared provider is actually letting you have a larger share of the pie than an average VPS will give you.

You've already been given recommendations. If you've got 350-400 simultaneous users with a 900 second cookie then you're going to want a dedicated server.

I have about the same size database, but only 50-60 user at the same time, running fine on a VPS. For 350-400 simultaneous user I agree you need a dedicated server. Do you know hos to manage server? If you do, you only need an unmanaged server (which you manage yourself). If you don't then you need a managed server which is more expensive, but the provider will manage the server for you

Oh, well, in that case, I'd have to recommend The Planet. They're who I use.

Servint has high level VPS plans as well, you might try to write them
