Hi,
If I only have a site which running vBulletin with always about 100 users online, do I need a dedicated server? Or a VPS?
I found these two sites: http://www.fasthosts.co.uk/ and https://www.1and1.co.uk/
My site is only for swedish users so I think the host should be as close sweden as possible. Do you have any other advices to give me?
Cordially,
Johan

If there are 100 users on all the time, you may want to purchase a VPS. 1and1 headquarters are the closest to sweden, but both aren't far apart. I would reccommend 1and1. I've used both and I prefer it.

Okey thanks. Is 1and1 the best or can I find better hoster? Thanks.

Do a search on these forums for '1and1' first.

1and1 has good uptime, but a checkered record for customer service. In addition, they limit the size of a MySQL database to 100MB. This may seem like a lot, but if you have a forum with thousands and thousands of messages -- and particularly handle image files too -- this can add up very quickly.
I use DreamHost and have had very good service and support.

I have a dedicated 1and1 server. I replaced their default Fedora image with a fresh CentOS install through the serial console. I have been happy with it for over a year now. I have never needed to contact customer service for anything.

I suppose if you manage everything yourself and are fully responsible for the consequences :)

Do not touch 1and1!!!!
Seriously I have had domains with them and have heard endless amounts of horror stories about their hosting!
I'd seriously suggest www.vpsbyte.com to you. I'm with them and support is top notch and the prices...well they're fantastic! Either VPS or Dedicated the service and prices beat all the rest hands-down.
Check 'em out. ;)
