Please help with logo!

Hi,

I made a simple logo for my site with illustrator and saved it as a gif file (save for web option). When I load it up the site, the quality is decent but I notice some white specs that outline the lettering and image. And against a dark backrgound, the white outline specs are definitely noticeable.

Is there a better way of getting my logo up to the site (jpg, etc), or are there adjustments that I should be making to get the best quality for the logo? Does the type of font matter?

I'm not familiar with Illustrator but in PhotoShop you need to export to ImageReady then use the Save Optimized As option to save as a gif file without distortion. There is likely a similar option in Illustrator where you can optimize your image as you are saving it.
