Seems this is hard to find..

Can anyone reccomend a dedicated server Host
Dedicated Lynux machine
that can deal with mysql 5.0.24

WE DONT WANT CPanel

Most server co's are saying - we wont suport this.

We need it.

Any ideas..

Thanks in advance...

I like www.liquidweb.com (http://www.liquidweb.com) for that.. thats my host for www.overclockingwiki.org (http://www.overclockingwiki.org) and I've been very happy with their support and options.. cpanel is there and works great.

Any reason you don't want cPanel?

Mysql 5.0.27 runs fine as standalone no control panel or with cpanel. Runs fine on both.

sys admin complains Cpanel take a bite out of the sever speed & makes higher load averages.

Forum works blazingly fast without it, just OK with it.

cPanel is not clogging down your server, my sites all run blazingly fast with cpanel. You need to tune any server ;) cPanel or not.d

cPanel itself is inherently inefficient code and more or less bloatware if all you need to do is host a few sites.

Control panels like DirectAdmin are much lighter and perform better...not necessarily for the websites, but for the control panel itself.

DirectAdmin has good support for Apache 2.0.x as well 2.2.x, whereas cPanel is stuck on 1.3.x.

Apache 2.2.x offers high performance according to our benchmarks, thus we use it. Regardless, if the OP does not require a control panel, they should go for Lighttpd - www.lighttpd.net.

virtualmin GPL and virtualmin pro are two other control panels that i use.
