We started a website for our gaming community with phpnuke (because it was free) and we seem to be expanding and would like to purchase vBulletin.

We heard great things about it and I use it frequently at other websites and I like the overall feel.

I have a few questions before I proceed:

1. phpnuke comes with phpbb2 ( BBtoNuke 2.0.22 for Platinum 7.6.b.4 v2 ). Will I be able to transfer all the data?

2. as a gaming community we have some modules we cannot live without. Do you have a paypal mod that members can donate and have they're info on they're donation? And also Teamspeak? Gallery? Downloads?

3. Does it come with CMS where you can put your main information on a front page.

Hopefully most of these are answered positively.

Thank-you,
T

I did some searching for the conversion so question #1 is answered positively.

I haven't found a system good enough yet to replace PHPNuke personally so I've been using it along side my vBulletin installation (codehacked of course to work side by side with vBulletin)

If you are looking for cool mods, dig around vBulletin.org and see what you turn up with. I'm sure you'll find some very niec stuff :D

Thank you for your reply.

I found this http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=175086&highlight=phpnuke and he seems to have it working.

I'm currently searching for a Gallery and Download Mod.

PS. I purchased vBulletin (lease)

There is a download MOD over at vbulletin.org. Its called DownloadsII. Its in the top 5 mods you can see on the left side of the home page.

Unfortunally for galleries the only thing that seems to really exist is photopost. Expensive peice of software. Its very nice though but a little less user friendly then vbulletin.
There is also coppermine which does intergrate into vbulletin without any modding.

There is a teamspeakmod over at vbulletin.org also.

There is no default CMS but alot of people use vbadvanced. Its a free CMS system that fully intergrated into vbulletin.

Follow up:

I managed to convert my users and posts over from phpnuke. (I had a problem with groups, so I just created new)
vbadvanced CMS seems to work fine, they also have a gallery, but I didn't look into it yet.
I found most of the mods I'm looking for and I'll look into that download mod.

With some minor tweaking, I managed to convert with no major problems. I'm very impressed with vBulletin, it far more sophisticated and well put together compared to what I was using.

Many thanks,
T
