I need some help from anyone using Plesk 8.0. I am in the process of moving my forum from a shared server to a VPS using the plesk Control Panel. I have read all of the tutorials and documentation and still having issues. I uploaded all of my files fine but am having a hard time uploading the SQL database. Anyone have any insight that would help me out? Thanks in advance.

How big is your sql file? When I migrated from one server to another I had to break my sql file up in order to make the pieces small enough to ftp up.

It is a 4.5 MB. Says it's under the max size.

Do you get any kind of error when you ftp it?

How are you trying to upload it?

I am trying to upload by their browsing function. I am getting an error #1440. I looked it up and everything seems to be working fine. Do I need to convert the file in any way before uploading?

You should upload the file via ftp and ask your webhost to restore it vvia the mysql command line utility.

It should not need formating and should be FTPed in ASCII mode.

It would probably work better if you used an ftp client like WS FTP but ftping from your command line is easy also.

Here are some good command line ftp tutorials:

now it's at 15 with 5 members and 5 guests, what do I do to change this? Is it the shared server problem? Will my new VPS bring this down to where you are?

Can you show us the 'top' output?
It should show you what is eating your CPU

Wow, I did not realize that. I am going to be going to the VPS server within the next couple of days. My members are getting very mad at the speed of the site which goes back to my original question of how to get the SQL file uploaded to the plesk database so I can get this thing done. I appreciate your help.
