I am trying to learn more Photoshop and I also have to make a bunch of logo's for some companies. This has never been a problem, but I want to learn how to be better at this. Use masks when I need too, and paths when it is smart to do so.

Anybody have any recommendations on this matter?

Does anybody have any good links with visual examples on which steps to take etc, so I can add them to my bookmark group and use them as a reminder.

The benefit of using paths and masks over just normal stuff is that you can afterwards play with the effects and resize etc, without losing all the pretty quality. And I have to use Illustrator less and less.

Thanks everybody. I've figured out how to properly use Masks and Layers and transparant gradient fills, and whatnot.
