Wondering if someone can help me, have used the search feature but it just throws up a lot about transferring the actual licence, which isn't relevant to me.

I have recently bought a website/forum from someone else who was running a vb leased licence. I have my own owned licence, what is the best way for me to change the files on the server so they recognise my licence number etc for future upgrades, and so that the forum runs the owned version instead. This site is also running vbadvanced and has its own skin/theme which I don't want to overwrite or lose the database. Anyone help as to which files I can overwrite and which I can't?

Before doing this, I recommend that you have a backup of mySQL.

Basically all you need to do is upload the Owned License file to the Leased License

than simply go to http://mysite.com/forum/install/upgrade.php

You'll get a customer number requirement..Enter that and follow the step by step... and you're done

I have uploaded the authenticate.php file and then run the upgrade and everything seems ok, but do I still need to upload all the other owned files, and which ones shouldn't I overwrite so as not to lose the skin? Always just used vbulletin default skin before now.

The style and all other data is all stored in the database, so you should upload al non-image files, except install/install.php, in ASCII format overwriting the files on the server.

Also, make sure that you have the correct URL associated with your license in your members area.
