Hi, last night I purchased vBulletin, along with the $65 fee for installation (I'm a definite newbie). I quickly received my confirmation emails, but neither included any information about the installation service. I assume that I need to provide information about my web host's server and my domain. Could someone please let me know how the process works, and what I need to do to provide vB with the info they need for the install? Thanks for your help.

Hello,

We'll be in touch soon via email with info about the installation service.

All the best,

James

Thanks, James. I need to get started with the setup as soon as possible, so anything you can do to expedite my installation will be greatly appreciated.

Guys, I really need to get my forum software installed. There is a local event this weekend that will generate a lot of posts on my forum, and I want to make the switch before that. The reason I paid for the installation was that I needed to hurry and didn't figure I had time for my own trial and error. Could you please let me know what to expect regarding the timing of your installation? Thanks.

Lawson, have you tried installing it yourself. It is SO so simple and only takes (literally) 10 minutes! All you need to know is your mysql username, password and hostname (which you would have to provide to James) and that is all - the software does the rest :)

yeah, it really is alot easier to install than UBB was.
You also need to know what extension php runs, or you have to use htaccess

I got a mySQL error everytime, and still dont get it. It is probably my fault though.

are you sure you put the right info in the config file, that seems to be the biggest problem with installing

make sure you not only have the username and pass right, but the database name too.

Thanks for the response, guys. I'm willing to take a crack at the installation - I'm a little disappointed at the lack of vB staff response, and I already paid my $65 - but maybe they'll bail me out if I mess up. My web host is futurequest. I'll ask via their forum what my MySQL username is and look into the installation instructions here. I'll post again if I get in a bind and humbly ask for your help, or maybe the vB guys will come through and do the installation. Thanks.

Hey. I'm sort of the installation guy here, but I guess James is tackling this one himself since I haven't received info from him.

One thing you definitely need before installing is the mySQL info from your host. Without that info even James and I can't install it.

You need to get the mySQL server name, your database name, database username and password.

I know a lot of hosts are starting to let people set these up for themseleves, but I've never used futurequest, so I have no idea what their set up is.

Thanks, Martin. I'm getting that info from futurequest now. As soon as I get it, I'll email it to you (Don't go away). I appreciate your help.

Sincerely,
Lawson
