Which programs fit well together

OK ... I have a site planned, I have done some homework and determined which programs might do the jobs that need to be done. The question remains, do these programs work well together?

What I am considering using for the main entrance CMS is Wordpress - for the forums, vBulletin - for ad management within Wordpress and vBulletin, phpAdsNew.

I would want to be able to pull info from vBulletin, such as the top 5 topics and display that info on the WordPress based entrance page. Can anyone say that these particular programs will work well together?

Can anyone make any other suggestions of what might work well?

I think that something else that you might want to consider is what bridges are available, so you can use the same usernames in you whole site. So, that's somthing I would also like to know. What bridges solutions are currently offered to integrate VB with CMS programs? For instance, VB with Joomla, or VB with Drupal?

I have seen bridge connections for WordPress and phpAdsNew on vBulletin.org (The official modifications site for vBulletin)
