Converting to a legit copy

I hope I don't get too much heat for this lol, but I recently took over a forum using 3.0.0 GOLD ... only problem is I'm pretty sure its not legit :o I'd like to change that asap.

sooooo I'm going to fully purchase 3.6.4 ;) Here inlays my dilemma, how do I upgrade or restore the old database to a newer board? I also need to switch servers in the meantime due to certain circumstances with my current host who wont allow me to access the FTP or MYSQL :rolleyes:

I can only back up the database thru adminCP... Ive got 400+ users and lots of info I cant afford to loose.

Hi there:

It's quite possible to upgrade from there. It will involve several steps, and there's approximately several paths. But generally they are all the same more or less.

Basically you'll need to get a complete backup (note due to PHP limitations, it may timeout so there's a chance you will get a partial backup) as well as uploading new files, and running some scripts to update your board to the latest version.

More details will be more available when you buy a license, if you need the info.

Sum it up, it's quite possible to upgrade from 3.0 to the latest version and moving on over :)
