Ok, I've been reading the conversion document and it looks like my phpbb forum will be just fine...
however...I also use Nuke in conjunction with PHPbb for all my advertisers and banners.
how does VB handle banners/advertisers? Is it a seperate system or embedded or what?
TIA

As I mentioned in your other topic, any "nuke" elements are not imported.
There is no banner ad feature built into vBulletin. phpAdsNew is popular and there are many banner ad add-ons at vBulletin.org. Unlike PHP, you don't have to hack up a bunch of files to use these add-ons. In most cases, it's uploading an XML file or two and editing a template (done in the control panel, rather than editing PHP files).
phpNuke is a whole portal/front-end. The closest analogy is vBAdvanced, a free portal/add-on for vBulletin.

thanks for the reply..
the add ons you mentioned for advertising..are those free or are they extra after purchasing VB?
basically the only thing we use from Nuke is the banner feature ,the rest is phpbb for the forums so if there is some type of banner ad on I'm sure it can be found and installed.
..and you are right..I hate having to edit tons of files just to add something..
with that said, is there also a Chat box or chat add on?
THANKS

phpAdsNew is a free banner ad script. There are many banner ad add-ons for vB plus standalone banner scripts that can work with vB. I've heard phpAdsNew is one of the best. I think you just paste some javascript into the templates.
FlashChat (http://www.tufat.com/s_flash_chat_chatroom.htm)is a chat add-on. It uses a Flash interface. It costs $5. It's good for no more than about 20 chatters though or the performance bogs down.
A few months ago, there was an exploit found in FlashChat that hackers too advantage of. When you install FlashChat, there is a CMS folder which contains "bridge" files to every possible forum or CMS program out there so you can login to the chat using the same username and password you have on the forum. Well, one of those files (not the vBulletin ones) was compromised. So I always recommend that you only upload the bridge files relevant to your specific installation. There are 2 or 3 vB-specific files in there that are needed -- the rest don't need to be there.
