does anyone else hate it when some underaged chav starts to screw around by intentionally misspelling small words?

like writing "your" instead of "you're", "there" instead of "their", "to" instead of "too" and so on.

and since we're on the topic of chav speech, what's up with adding "lol" in random places of a sentence as if it's some kind of punctuation? it just makes the text look even more retarded than it is already with aforementioned misspellings.

Are you certain it's intentional? They might have different meanings and usage, but there are people who really don't know which is which, especally in the younger group. Now if you were to say something like "U" instead of "you", "2" instead of "to", etc., then I know what you mean.

[quote=Greps;1262192]like writing "your" instead of "you're"/quote]Completely wrong if they put Your instead of you're there correct because "You're" stands for "You Are".

Perfect example of incomprehensible lack of punctuation. :P

No it doesn't bother me one bit because I realize that different people have different capability's and intelligence levels. What you need to remember is not all people can spell very well. And it's not fair to just assume that a person would use the word "their" instead of "there" in the wrong place on purpose. Some people just can't grasp things like that no matter how hard they try. And it's not just under-aged people who spell bad either. :)

People who can spell very well and have great punctuation should think themselves lucky.

I don't know if the misspelling is intentional.. more like lack of intelligence/understanding of grammar.

The lol thing however, most assuredly does make me wonder about the poster's mental state.

Oh! You put in some aberrant apostrophe's!

I's it really necessary to apostrophise word's like that? Shoe's? CD's? BBQ's?

Oh god, how I despise the improper use of apostrophes.. usually done to denote plurality.

I'm going out with a girl who, in her messages:
Uses AOL
Types in all caps (and I rip on her for that)
Interjects with LOL followed by 20,000 exclamation pointsI'm trying ever so hard to maintain my sanity at times...but there are benefits.

She does get their/there/they're correct.

Don't agree with that one bit. Everybody uses short hand in text messages regardless of there spelling level. For example "u" instead of "you" is used and so on.

It's done for speedy replies. You must be mad if your writing text messages using all the correct punctuation and word spelled correctly. I don't know one person who does that.

I'm talking about e-mails, though, not just text messages (although she does do things like "ur"...including one choice quote that I'd love to post but won't).

I'll be much more informal for real-time things like IMs or when it's too hard to type long text (text messages), but forum posts and e-mails, I always use much better grammar and spelling.

On an Instant msg program I really don't care, as long as both parties understand what you're saying. However, in everything else it would be nice if people type it out fully.

I'm the same way. Despite my best efforts, I always "txt speak" in IMs, but I try to be as professional as possible when I'm sending out e-mails.

On my cell, I generally type everything out. I'm not going to go super crazy over a few choices puncutation marks. But I do spell things out.
