Upgrade PHP?

Currently on php 4.3.11 on redhat 9

Downloaded, configured, and made 4.4.4.

What do I need to do to make 4.4.4 the standard now? Even after a reboot, php -v comes up 4.3.11

And also will I need to rebuild apache to make it use 4.4.4?

I've never built PHP on RH9, but after you ran "make", did you also run "make install"?
