Hi all, I just bought 3.6 to upgrade our current vbulletin 2 forum; Using Impex I 'm able to import all threads, posts, users, usergroups and attachements, they are all transferred to the new vB3.6 forum. Everything is working fine except for the imported attachements, which simply don't show up.
I have about 600Mb worth of attachments, none of them open when I click on the "attachment" link in an existing post; I get a blank screen with the url of the attachment. What could be the cause of this?
thanks in advance for your help

Hello Steve, thank you for the quick reply, I did the upgrade on a local copy of the forum running on a local machine here in the network, unfortunately it's not internet accessible, is that a problem?

Yes, that is a problem. Without access it will be very difficult to investigate and troubleshoot this.
You may just have to wait for Jerry to see this thread and hope that he can help.

thank you Steven, I imported the current vB to the test database and then did the impex using that database as the source;
the final boards has everything working except for those attachments;
here is how it looks post + attachment (so far so good):

now if I click on the attachment I get this instead of the image:

Are you storing your attachments in the database or file system on the target board ?
If file system, have you tried putting them in the database just for the sake of the import, then moving them out ?

Hi Jerry, the vB2 attachments are stored in the database, and on the vB3 board they are also stored in the mysql

I think I'm going to be happy with the imported users/posts/threads and just start the attachments from scratch :). It'll be a loss, but nothing too big
thank you both for your quick replies and assistance.

I can understand your choice to move forward, though this is a bug, even if I can't replicate it :(

the reason I held on to vB2 this long is because I have about 1001 custom modifications running on there and it's integrated with the site, all custom code, using the normal upgrade path it doesn't quite work due to plenty database incompatibilities, I was surprised it worked with impex as good as it did, so I'm not complaining :)

As long as some/most of the original is in there ImpEx will be fine, as it only uses the default schema to import from you can have a zillion other tables and fields and it will be ok :)

Hi there Jerry; I got the board running now on the "production" server, I have issues getting the search index to work, when trying to re-index it will only do about 119 posts... the posts which were already made by RSS bot, the imported posts (130.000+) are not indexed at all.
what could be the cause of this?

Make sure all the forums have Indexing turned on:
Admin CP -> Forums & Moderators -> Forum Manager -> Edit Forum -> Index New Posts in Search Engine

aha, that sneaky little setting got past me:) it defaulted to "no" on all imported forums, thanks for the quick help!
