I have been working on a fresh install 3.6.3 vBulletin
I know Impex kan import Users/forum/Treads/Posts from the old db 3.5.4
However my concern is the import.
The old db is quite large and i`m afraid of timeout, is this any problem ?
Treads: 5.894, Posts: 52.928,
And one more thing do i need to uppdate the old forum 3.5.4 to 3.6.3 ?
Locking forward to start off with a "clean" db :)
And is it a must that db is on the same server ?

<< Move to Import System forum >>
50.000 posts is not really considered as large. Depending on your server you should not have any problems.

No

It is a must that ImpEx can connect to your source database. Since most servers are configured to not allow external connections to MySQL it is most likely that importing from an external server will fail.
Also for speed considerations it is adviced to make a local copy of the source database to use with ImpEx.

So a full dump of existing db and upload on the server where i bulid the page and then run Import.
Can it be the same database i use for building just use other prefix ?

You could use the same database with a different prefix, but i would advise to temporary create a seperate database for it.

On some of the boards with millions of posts I do 50,000 per page ;)
You'll just have to experiment and see what works on your server :)

That’s a differential import, and that isn't supported.
You have to do the whole import again, count everything up to now as a test.

You're better off Upgrading instead of Importing. Importing will cause all your Thread IDs and Member IDs to change, causing any existing links to your site (and search engine results) to be broken.
