character and attachment problem

i have a prblem with impex migrating from IPB 2.1.7 to vb 3.6.3.

one issue is, that umlauts like (ü ä ö) are completly messed up after impex running.

the 2nd thing is, that impex cannot import the IPB attachments. impex just says, "can´t find attachment" (or something like that).

anyone can help me?

You need to ensure that the char sets of the target and the source database are the same as well as the admincp setting.

You need to enter the path to the IPB attachments on the local server.

thanks for your fast response. i will try again with same charset in the databases. for attachment problem, i will try that, too. please write that into your readme file, which path is to be entered. no all people do an import on the same server. i did a remote import.
