possible time out during upgrade to 3.6.3

If a database is larger than 1.5GB, would it be a timeout issue while upgrading? How to solve it ? would the script pick up what has left after time out? or starting all over again? I know vB script split the upgrade step by step. However, what happen if one particular step always get timeout?

I can extend the php timeout value, however, I cant' change the mysql timeout value? any idea?

change the timeouts and memory_limit.
I've upgraded big boards, and if the settings are high enough then it'll work. It simply takes a while.
