Hi all

I have been with vB for a few years now, starting somewhere in the 2.x versions. I currently am up to 3.5.3 and intend on moving real soon to 3.6. However, over the years I have installed various addons from vbulletin.org and some of these are now part of vB itself. What I would like to do is perform a brand new install of 3.6 just like it is the first time. However, I would like to have all my threads, posts, users etc from my 3.5.3 install. I want to do this to "clean up the garbage" left behind over the years....

My question is:

What would be the best way to accomplish this? Any and all help appreciated.

Cheers
Bruce

You could use ImpEx to import your users and posts into a new install.

Please note that doing so, will renumber all your posts, threads and userid's, so links inside posts pointing to other posts/threads will not work correct anymore.

Aha, thanks. I never thought of the changes to ID's. Looks like I'll have to do a manual compare of structures etc to get rid of the rubbish.

Thanks again

I’m in a similar situation like speedway, but messing the IDs is not an option for me although I would like to hold some of my database add-ons. Then could I just use my old database in a fresh install of vb 3.6.3 or I would have to fresh install the version I was working with (vb 3.5.4) and then upgrade to vb 3.6.3?

Thanks
